"Tennis anyone?" is a phrase frequently heard on Hilton Head Island. Over the years, the island has developed a national, if not international, reputation for tennis. Perhaps the reputation is due to the great year-round weather or the many resorts that were built offering free tennis on well-maintained courts. Certainly, Hilton Head's fame as the Tennis Island can be attributed to its many tennis centers offering instructions, clay and hard surface courts, lighted play and fully equipped pro-shops in Palmetto Dunes, Sea Pines and Shipyard Plantations, as well as the Forest Beach area. Or perhaps it was built on years of college tennis teams returning year after year to Hilton Head for their Spring Break tennis.
